Youth Earth Science Classes Ages 14-18

An age considered adults in their own right in many cultures and societies, this group will explore the intricacies woven in every part of the Earth. Their critical thinking skills will be challenged as they are asked to seek out the connections existing under their feet through ecosystems and earth processes. Each participant will walk away with a deeper understanding of their place and impact in the world and the knowledge of what they can do in their communities to embrace that understanding.

What are fungi? What is the largest mushroom in the world? How do fungi help maintain ecosystems? How can you tell if a mushroom is edible?

The Living Breathing Earth

Can plants feel? How do mushrooms communicate? Do animals experience grief? How do animals acclimate to their environments? Where do we fit in?

One Drop of Water

How does water sustain human life? How does water destroy it? What can water teach us about the world? How does water shape our surroundings? What can we do to protect water systems? What can we do to protect ourselves from waters wrath?

What are tectonic plates? How do they control how our world looks? How can we take advantage of what the moving Earth provides?
